LILS meals on wheels team delivered some extra cheer to older and vulnerable residents across Camden and Haringey this Christmas, in the form of handmade Christmas cards and Small Acts of Kindness Winter Warmer gift bags!

Christmas is a very busy time of year at LILS. This year we delivered over 170 meals to older and vulnerable clients across Camden and Haringey over Christmas Eve, Christmas Day & Boxing Day.

But it doesn't stop there - we wanted to bring our clients some extra Christmas cheer, and we recruited some local schoolchildren and scouts to help us to do this! They carefully handcrafted dozens of festive cards, ranging from snowmen, to Christmas trees, to Santa himself. These were then delivered by our Community Team members (wearing Santa hats, of course) to our clients along with their hot meals. They certainly put some smiles on our clients' faces - as well as our team!

To the right is is our lovely client, Jean, receiving her Christmas card.

This year we were also lucky enough to partner up with Small Acts of Kindness, a fellow not-for-profit organisation who provide Warm in Winter gift bags to older and isolated people during the cold winter months. We delivered 50 of these bags over Christmas, which contain practical keep-warm items for older people including; a fleece blanket, thermal hat, gloves, socks, a mug, hot drinks and soup.

“I absolutely love the socks – pink is my favourite colour!"

Ms Shaw, pictured left, was one of many clients delighted to receive a gift bag, and we hope to reach many more people in years to come.
