About Us News Service Closure Having proudly supported Camden and Haringey residents for the past 3 years, it is with great sadness that we must inform you that London Independent Living Service (LILS) will close on 1st October 2020, with the last day of service being 30th September 2020. As a result, we are no longer able to take any new referrals or service reinstatements to the LILS service. If you are currently a LILS client, you should have received a letter from us with information about alternative support services. If you have not received this letter or have any questions, please contact us on 03333 444 806. If you or the client you support need help with meals in your local area, then please contact your relevant Council: Camden Council For those who are already in receipt of social care, please telephone 020 7974 4000 (option 1). For those who are not, please telephone 020 7974 4444. Haringey Council For those who are already in receipt of social care, please telephone 020 8489 1400. For those who are not, please telephone 020 8489 4431. For general support for older people, please contact the national Age UK Advice Line: 0800 678 1602. Over the past three years LILS has had a positive impact for 500 older and vulnerable Camden and Haringey residents. Over 40 staff have been employed by the service, and 80,000 tasty, hot, and nutritious meals have been delivered. As a new organisation trying to become financially sustainable, we have operated at a financial loss for these three years. The daily meal price does not cover the full cost of meals, staff, and delivery and there is a significant funding gap. To date, we have managed to cover this funding gap from a variety of sources, including our own investment, and through the support of partners. However, in the current climate, this has become increasingly challenging to do, and we have been unable to secure long-term investment or contracts to enable the service to continue. We would like to take this opportunity to thank our team for their hard work and dedication to our clients over the last three years. We are also grateful to our partners: the Social Business Trust, apetito, One Housing, Sustain, Permira, Public Voice, The Bridge Renewal Trust, Connected Communities, Homes for Haringey, Noel Park Big Local, and others for their dedicated support and assistance.
